The Confidence Score
The confidence score and how it’s calculated.
Why it matters
Consolidating all your health data into a Total Vitality Score can be incredibly insightful, motivating, and practical. This score allows you to test assumptions about your health, compete with family and friends, and assess how lifestyle changes may be affecting you. We aim to ensure you can track and improve your score, even if you’re only able to monitor a few biomarkers—this is where the confidence score comes in.
For example, let’s say you only have up-to-date measurements for five biomarkers out of the 100+ available on Vital, and they’re all in the optimal range. This means we know, with low certainty, that you have high vitality. Instead of giving you a low overall score due to tracking only a few metrics, we use two distinct scores to reflect what we know about you accurately. Your Total Vitality Score will be very high, given your optimal markers, but your confidence score will be low because it’s based on just five metrics.
What does my confidence score mean on Vital?
Underneath your Total Vitality score, you’ll see a confidence score, estimating how accurately your Total Vitality Score reflects your actual overall health. Confidence ranges from 0 to 99%. The more comprehensive and up-to-date your measurements across various biomarkers, the higher your confidence score will be.
